| The Fin and Rudder are near finished.
Everything clamped in place--soon to be bolted.
Far Right: A close up view of the fin (left) and rudder top. The tail structure will be cable braced top and bottom.
Another picture of the tail feathers. Far Right: The following pictures are of how we modified the elevator and aileron control system. The aileron torque tube will have the elevator push / pull rod inside of it. The elevator idler bell-crank sits just aft of the aileron torque tube assembly.
Control stick end of the aileron torque tube. The elevator push / pull rod - rod end can be seen at the bottom of the control stick. Far Right: Looking aft from the aircraft right side. The seat will be located over the aileron torque tube.
Every time Dick tells me, "That's good enough." I keep thinking what a well known pilot said. "Oh, you want me to land on a runway!" That was from a well known event not far from here. Sioux City IA. Far Right: From the acft. right side. The elevator idler and aft end of the torque tube assy.
Plastic (PVC) conduit union / slip joint used as a bearing for the torque tube. Waiting on that epoxy to cure. Darn, I do nice work! Far Right: A not so good picture of the hand crafted parts. There seems like a lot of them till you start getting them finished. Then it's not so bad. |
