Dick using the air drill.  "We have to rivet this bullet proof firewall in place".

Far Right: Mac, pulling the rivets the hard way.  Someone should invent an air powered rivet puller.

Let the covering begin.

Far Right:  Rudder and vertical fin in place.  They have to be removed in order to install the horizontal stab and elevator.

Side view vertical Fin and Rudder covered and hinged together. Note the wood compression strut added in fin, and other tail members in following pictures.  We decided they were needed after shrinking the covering on the rudder and seeing the leading edge and trailing edge bow a little.

Vertical and horizontal sections all covered.  09-13-06

Far Right: Just another view of the tail feathers.  This covering process is pretty much like covering a model airplane with silk like we did in the old days.

Aileron bell crank with cables attached.

Far Right: Aileron control cables as they rise past the seat back.  The elevator bell crank is in view here.

Ailerons will have solid rod from the bell crank near the light bulb to the aileron control horns.

Far Right: Rudder control cable connected up front.  We need to install springs to keep the pedals from ever flopping aft.

Forward end of the elevator push/pull tube connected to the bell crank.

Far Right: Push/pull tube connected to the elevator control horn.
