This Ultra Light aircraft plans can be purchased and downloaded from the internet. Go to www.affordaplane.com They say it can be Part 103 legal. We'll see about that later. The engine will be 40 to 50 HP two stroke. Maybe larger tires for them off airport landings. Right: Dick beside his new "baby." One has to start someplace. First we built the "building table." Then ordered lots of aluminum. Then the full size patterns cut out and transferred to the .125" 6061 T6 plate stock. Sawing them out with a jig saw was a pain till we added a little WD40 to the blade. Right: "I'm sure it will fly just fine," says Mac. Yes, it's a broom handle.
Here is the start of the fuselage. Having drawn the fuselage out full size on our work table we then cut the 2" sq. tubing to match the angles. Later it is blocked up allowing the drill press to drill through the .125" doublers and 2" sq. stock. Then we bolted it all together. Right: Picture of the patterns used to cut the doublers.
The basic fuselage bolted together and standing up. Wing goes on top, engine in front and the little wheel goes in back!! Right: How we are going to "spring" the landing gear.
Yes, he is making airplane engine sounds. Dick started all this as a way to fight sitting around watching mindless TV programs. Right: The elevator needs only it's control horn and covering. Below is the stab. Waiting for drilling and covering. This little plane is just to easy to build.
